MISSION STATEMENT Staff, students, parents, and the
community will work together and communicate to provide a positive, safe, and
caring environment for all to learn and grow. We believe our commitment to
education is better met through shared goals, participatory decision making
and a strong sense of trust which will positively influence students' educational outcomes.
WHAT MAKES WAKEFIELD SCHOOL SPECIAL! If education, at any level, is to be at least adequate, it must be based upon more than scholastic or academic goals and objectives. These additional goals and objectives must be tempered by and tailored to the needs of the people and community serviced by the school In accordance with this general statement, our philosophy includes a sincere commitment not only to all students but to their families and community. Our primary responsibility is to provide each student with the educational, social and emotional skills necessary to comprehend basic areas of knowledge as well as the ability to think critically. The capability to demonstrate insight and imagination, to synthesize and correlate, and to gain integrity in thought and action certainly should have central importance in the basic goals and objectives. Lastly, the general hope is to provide a school environment wherein the child is the focus and purpose of that environment; a place where respect, interest and affection are shown to each child by the entire staff -- and where, in return, the child learns to respect and like others, as his/her self-image and own self-respect are strengthened daily within the caring walls of Wakefield Elementary School.
